US Bank Draft is a requirement by most of the universities to submit all the fees. Now there are several ways of getting this done, firstly you can get a US Bank draft made from directly a US bank if possible. If not, then you need to have an International Account in any International Bank e.g Citibank that allows you to do transactions of multiple currencies, it takes about few dollars per draft/cheque as an extra cost of getting a US bank draft/cheque made.
It means a draft or cheque of
by US bank they mean a bank
by US bank they mean a bank from which check can be encashed in the US. U can get a bank draft made from State Bank of India, there its the cheapest. HDFC, ICICI are costlier. HDFC charges Rs. 1000 extra for a foreign bank draft.. SBI charges only Rs. 160 which is very nominal. Just go to an SBI brach which has a foreign exchange counter. (Most of the big branches have it). They will guide you and ur draft will be made in one day. good luck.

abt SBI
I got it made thru SBI.
Its the same process, goto SBI main branch in ur city which has foreign exchange counter. Show them prrof of why you need the draft, like webpage prinout of the elective fees. fill up the forms and pay the amount either cash or check. I PAID 625 Rs commission for every draft. I dont know how they can charge 160 Rs........
better confirm it with SBI, must be due to new rules n budget etc.
Best Wishes
yeah i got 3 drafts made with
yeah i got 3 drafts made with SBI itself, two of $100 each and one of $300 and paid only extra of Rs. 160. and i m talking of some 10 days back. I had enquired HDFC people and they said I will be charged Rs. 1000 per draft extra. I dont know how these bank people charge differently at different places or from different people. huh.
and process is same-
1. take copy/print out of your elective rules page where the draft amount is mentioned and also where it is mentioned that it should be payable to 'XYZ...ABC'
2. take along a photocopy of PAN card and also original so they can verify its the same
3. Fill up the forms, (4 in number if i remember right)
4. write them a cheque (my branch insisted that I should pay in cheque and not cash)
5. say thank you
6. collect the draft next day (may b same day if u coax the officer a little)
7. check that its correct
8. again say thank you. :P
